Alternatives for Cam Scanner

Cam Scanner one of the most popular document scanner and OCR apps for Android was taken down from the Google Play Store in September 2019 as it was found to harboring a malicious trojan add module. While the developers have since removed the offending module, I am sure most of you are already on the lookout for other alternatives. After all, it's difficult to trust the app now. Moreover, it has now been tagged Chinese. So if you have not been able to find an app that perfectly fills the void lift by Cam Scanner, you are in the right place.

Top 3 Best & Free alternatives for Cam Scanner

(You can click on the App Names listed below to directly land into Play Store to download them)

1. Microsoft Office Lens

It's an app that provides almost everything that you could get with Cam Scanner with seamless Office integration. It includes all the usual features like automatic edge cropping, business card scanning, accurate OCR, and much more. You can save the documents scanned as pdf files or directly upload them into OneDrive with online availability. It comes inbuilt with the Office 365 suit with many more features.

2. Google Drive

This inbuilt app also offers basic document scanning and it automatically saves the scanned documents into your linked accounts so that you can easily access them anywhere. It's easy to use: Open the app, Tap on the plus icon on the bottom right corner, and select the Scan option. If you want to scan photos then use Photo Scan, an app from Google that lets you create digital copies of your old photographs.

3. Adobe Scan

It's just like Office lens but needs to be logged in with your Google or Facebook account. It allows multiple document scanning and OCR. Quite easy to use and works absolutely fine. It is good for scanning large documents. It's edge cropping and light adjustment feature works quite well. Your documents remain on Adobe cloud and are easily available by logging in with your account.

I personally use Office 365 Lens and it works absolutely fine. If you too have an Office 365 account then Office Lens is the best app ever possible. To know more about it, have a look at Office 365.
